Sushi again?

I know. Sushi again? Indeed. So we finally sold the other house, which means that I can afford to go out for sushi when Josh is travelling. And Josh has been travelling a lot. I don't think he needs sushi as often as I do, or at least he doesn't want to put up with the drive to Buckhead as often.

When I go to Taka by myself, I tend to eat less, not to save money but because I want to get home early. In the winter, I often try to get home before dark, which is nearly impossible. Even now, when it gets dark after 8.30, now I go to bed around 9, so it's nearly bedtime by the time I get home!

This was my first solo sushi dinner in quite some time. I remember when I first started going by myself a couple years ago, they would wonder where Josh was and not see him for months at a time. Then we started going together randomly and he wouldn't always get ginger. Then they got used to seeing us together and now they are adjusting again. It's funny.

As I have mentioned before, Taka has evolved our sashimi experience. There is always a selection of Japanese fish but he also knows what I like so he tends towards those things.

I like to order other things, too, so that he will know what things I favor even if they aren't in the sashimi omakase. Here we have sweet shrimp and giant clam. Giant clam has never showed up in the omakase but I think that's more due to cost.

I remember I used to get a lot of blue shrimp in the omakase. I like it. But I like the sweet shrimp better. So I would order the sweet shrimp separately. Now I mainly get sweet shrimp. :)

I think Taka gives me a little extra uni. The best dessert.

Actually, I think this is the uni and toro dish that Taka posted as the Veronica Special. This was a really divine platter of sashimi. This was two days after I went solo (up above). Nothing wrong with great sushi twice a week.

And then I went again the next week. They asked if I was going to take a picture and send it to Josh so... why not? :)

And they had giant clam again, which they don't always have. I asked Taka if I should get nigiri or sashimi and he recommended nigiri since I was going to get my uni.

The couple next to me looked like regulars and they didn't know what giant clam/geoduck was so Taka gave them small tastes. The woman spit hers out. Poor form. The guy said, I can eat it. So clearly neither of them liked it. Poo on them.

I enjoyed it. :)

And then my uni. I think this is two and a half pieces of uni each. Yum!
