A little restaurant catchup

I don't cook breakfast on weekends anymore, which is a little sad. I used to love breakfast. I don't know what happened. Too much breakfast?

Of course, that means I get to just hang out more and enjoy my coffee, and then we head out for lunch!

We did lunch at Joli Kobe. It kind of makes me sad that their menu is so stripped down. It's like 10 entrees but no apps or sides in case you need more food. And I know it's not really enough.

Josh got this dish, a healthy collection of veggies and bulgur and a beautiful soft-boiled egg.

I got the tonkatsu ramen again. I thought there were more noodles this time, which made me happy. The pork was also a little thicker and had a really healthy amount of fat.

The vegetable balance was great, the just-cooked egg perfect. This one came with kimchi which I found to be a really great balance against the fattiness of the pork and broth.

Really delicious. Just wish it were bigger or came with a side.

Fast forward to the next weekend. I had been craving Fat Matt's. We got there before they opened (times not accurate on their website) and waited outside until they unlocked the doors.

Josh likes to get their chopped pork sandwich. I personally don't think it's that great which is why he doesn't like Fat Matt's. Sad for Veronica.

I got a half slab which was delicious. The beans were delicious. My lemonade was delicious. The coleslaw was a little dry and not so great. It was okay, just not their usual.

After eating, I thought I was over my craving for a bit. It was good, but a bit too much for me even. But looking at the photos again. Man, so good. Maybe I can sneak over there for lunch on my own tomorrow. Yum. He doesn't like it anyway.
