Tomatoes

Our tomatoes are finally starting to ripen. I waited a good long time until I felt these tomatoes were ripe enough before picking them.

The sad thing is that they both had black bottoms. I've read about this now and learned that blossom end rot is common in tomatoes that don't have enough calcium when they are growing. So now I know to mash up egg shells.

I had a few tomatoes that were a little red. I harvested them early so they had no rot and I hope they ripen appropriately.

More of the container tomatoes are starting to ripen and some of the black cherry tomatoes too. I hope damn yard animals don't steal those.

Isn't it weird in this picture that the ripe one looks round but the others on the same plant look roma style? Weird.
