New additions to the garden
As I mentioned, these stone plants are my absolute favorite. The one in the middle there, that's the one I've had. And the ones to the left and right, those are the new ones. They are so cute! I hope they do well.
Here is today's harvest! I've been meaning to harvest the eggplants for a few days now and I don't think they have grown any extra so they must be pretty small. There are a few others that look close but not quite ready to harvest. Perhaps tomorrow or even a couple days from now.
The jalapenos have also been ready for a few days. This was all that was there, except for one little sprouting one. Hopefully it will replenish soon.
Welcome to our new golden muscadine!
I recently got some seed catalogs and was reading about how some people apparently don't like the shipping costs and so they go to the stores that have their seed racks to buy them. So I looked up where they sell Seed Savers seeds and came upon Hastings Garden Center (hastingsgardencenter.com). We headed over there today and I'm so glad that we did! It's not large in size, but they have an impressive amount of stuff. The two staff there were so helpful, but the lady inside (I think she is the owner) was so patient in answering all my questions.
Ultimately, we bought a selection of leafy fall vegetables. She recommended that we start them inside now so we bought some little germination pots and a tray. For the other vegetables like broccoli and brussel sprouts, she recommended seedlings, which we'll go back for in a month or two.
Outside, they had a table with several fruit trees including blueberries and raspberries. However, since we are sticking with containers for now, it was just muscadines for us.
This was the largest of the golden muscadines. This one already had two small fruit groups which really excited Josh. We went to Lowe's to pick up some pots and trellises.
Here's his brother! A black muscadine! No fruit on this one yet, but hopefully that will change soon.
I'll have to look up some info about treating muscadines.
