Moroccan brisket

Cafe Sababa does a Moroccan brisket special every Friday and Saturday night. We had never had it before, but heard people raving about it. After experiencing the lamb shank, which was absolutely delicious and had never heard anyone say anything about, I had high expectations. Very high.

We ended up there on Friday night and saw how large the brisket was so we ordered it to share with an app of baba ganoush to start. (In the end, we ate only half of what was served and the split the remaining on Saturday for lunch.)

I have to say I was disappointed. Sure, there were chickpeas in it, but it tasted mostly the same as any other brisket to me. It was tender, but not completely fork tender and tending towards dry.

Sure, it was good. But not great or awesome. I'm still longing for that lamb shank. Mmmm, on that herbed polenta.
