There is some pretty decent food out here in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area. I commented on this to one of my co-workers -- that we are trying out a lot of places and figured out which ones will make our list of regular spots -- and she said that I should write about Decatur versus Dunwoody. Interesting as a concept.
Cafe Sababa is certainly one of our regular spots. So far, I've enjoyed everything I've had though I certainly tend towards some dishes more than others. I had gone to Sababa for lunch and had the lamb burger, so when we ended up there again for dinner and there was a special, I opted for it, even though I was really hoping for that lamb shank again.
Lamb meatloaf on mushroom-spiked polenta. While basically the same formula as the lamb shank, I definitely thought this dish was more singular tasting. About halfway through, I switched plates with Josh and finished his falafel, hummus, and baba ganoush.
We couldn't finish the meatloaf and brought it home.
Friday night brought us to Peter's in Dunwoody Village. I started off with the half crab salad again, and it was as good as I remembered. Josh got a red pepper/anchovy salad, which he seemed to like.
For a main, Josh got truffle scallops on risotto. Overly parmesany risotto. But the scallops were cooked perfectly. I got the frutta de mare again which was almost but not quite as good as last time. The shrimp were overcooked although the rest of the seafood was as it should have been. I went for the white sauce again which was good, but it was a little lacking in salt. I guess I'll get something else next time.
Surprisingly, Josh opted for a cannoli and coffee for dessert. The cannoli are filled to order and were good.
Of course, I got the ricotta cheesecake. Yum.
