We were in Decatur on a late Saturday morning, hungry, and looking for food. Inspiration struck in finding that 246 opens for lunch at eleven.
It's been a while since we've been to 246. Now that we are far away, making a weekday -- or even weekend, frankly -- trip into Decatur seems like a haul.
We were happy to sit at the bar and catch up with people and meet the new bar manager and then to run into Drew and chat with him.
We started off with this baccala toast which was simply divine. Everything about it was perfect, right down to the hint of red pepper flake spice.
Drew told us about some burrata they had so we lucked into that. It was indeed delicious and when we returned the bowl, it was nearly licked clean. But I do have to admit that I tend towards the Puglian burrata as my favorite and all the others are a far and distant second.
Josh got the special pizza topped with padron peppers and Calabrian peppers. I fear it will be too spicy for me.
Me, I got the squid ink tagliatini topped with bottaga. A heady mix of seafoodness.
We couldn't finish either of our mains, probably because of that burrata we didn't figure into our meal size. The leftovers are hanging out in the fridge.
