Saturday market
It feels like it's the first market morning I've attended in a while. At least, it felt like old times.
Indian Ridge came to the market with seventy pounds of chanterelles. Seventy! We bought a bunch and some hedgehogs too. $19. Ouch.
We also picked up some broccoli from Planted Rock Farms. There is some baby zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and celebrity tomatoes from McMullan Family Farms.
We bought two small green leaf heads from McMullan. And then two packages of pepperoncinis, one of shishito, and filet beans from Burge. I'm going to pickle the pepperoncinis...
I made a greek salad the other day with some feta we got at Whole Foods. It was great. So I picked up 8 oz of Decimal Place Farms feta. Looking forward to it!
Greg from Heritage Farms put some meat on hold for us. A 4 lb pork butt, a beef tongue. Three packages of chicken feet, and one of chicken wings.
Hopefully, we'll get some chickens in next week. Damn pasteurized poultry week for taking all my chicken!
We stopped in at Atlanta Fish Market, looking for a good fish source. Their stuff looks good, but actually runs more expensive than Whole Foods, which I think is pretty high quality as it is. Plus, all their filets are skin off.
We bought some sea bass filets from Peru and these Pine Island oysters from Massachusetts. I couldn't find my good oyster knife so I used my crappy one and practically gouged my eye out. I threw that piece of crap out. But the oysters themselves were delicious. Cool and briny.
Well, I'm all caught up on blogging now so I'll try to keep on top of it regularly.
