Lee's Bakery

Well, we have been hearing about Lee's Bakery as the best place for banh mis for some time. And yesterday, we finally made it there.

We arrived late, around 2.45pm, which is normally a hard time to find food on a Sunday unless you go to mostly Asian places. The place was mostly empty, but you could see that they had just turned over several tables.

We both ordered the combo #1 which came with half a banh mi and a bowl of pho with rare beef and well-done flank steak for $6.50. Josh also got a diet coke which apparently you self-serve. Or our waiter forgot, which is also possible.

For the banh mi half, we got the Lee's Special which has pork liver pate, pork head cheese, and two other meats I can't remember. The bread was crispy and delicious. The balance of the entire sandwich was perfect. Normally Josh is not a fan of these (which I only just learned is because he used to have them when he was younger) but this one met his approval. Hooray!

I updated my Facebook to say we were there and Hendricks recommended the grilled pork banh mi so we got one to go. However, we didn't eat it until hours later so the bread was soggy. I will have to try it again. Poor me.

Our waiter did forget about our pho so we had to remind him but it was excellent when it arrived. The broth was flavorful and the meat was super abundant. This pho did not disappoint. And all for $6.50! We are definitely coming back. Although maybe getting an extra banh mi to share!
