The garden has really gone through its rough times this year because of all the heavy rain. The good news for me is that everyone's gardens are doing poorly because of it so it's not that I failed. The bad news is that it's also bad for farmers, of course.
I'm both pleased and annoyed by the garden. It's perceived bounty is not enough to really excite me and it's not with joy that I look over the plants each day, finding one problem or another. I haven't planted my fall garden yet and I waffle on doing it every day.
I did have one melon that grew. It looks pretty cute, actually.
Before we left for Washington, I harvested these. The plants fell into really rough shape while we were gone, which I find odd since we supposedly got so much rain. There are a lot of habaneros out there that I really need to harvest.
A bird seems to have planted this sunflower here! Raspberries aren't doing well, but the sunflower was until we went on vacation.
The squash was not doing well after all the rain and I was sure it was already dead, but this one seems to have recovered... off the planter.
It looks pretty good, right? I saw three little patty pans growing yesterday. Of course, those have fallen off before, so I'm only moderately hopeful.
