Seattle: Food adventure
After a tiring day at the zoo tromping around, we took a short rest to let our feet recover. Then we headed to Canon (canonseattle.com) for a drink.
They have a really impressive supply of liquor.
I can't remember what this is, but the clearness of the drink indicates how well it was made.
I started off with west coast oysters and a red wine mignonette. Delightful and perfect. Just what I would have wanted.
Josh ordered these pork belly buns which are served with a sweet and spicy sauce and an apple slaw. Overall, I thought they were good, but the sauce was heavy in a barbeque style, too heavy.
Marrow is my favorite, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity. It came with a smoked garlic gremolata. Two bones! Splendid.
As he set the plate down, our bartender said: do you like scotch? How could my answer be anything but "hell yeah!" So he said, when you finish that, I have a gift for you.
The marrow was delicious and went really well with the gremolata. No surprise, I didn't touch the toast except for a small taste.
The bartender gave us a shot each of scotch (and some other stuff) to "shoot" down the marrow. Wow!
Josh did it in one shot, whereas I did it in several shorter, porky-rich shots. Wow.
After drinks, we headed to Lark next door to see if they had any tables available, and they did. I have to admit that I really don't remember much of the dinner now, but I'll do my best.
First: a salad. Arugula, tomatoes, dungeness crab.
Soup. Creamy, smooth. I really liked this.
Salmon. This dish is the most lost to my debauchery.
Hanger steak. Blue cheese butter. Delicious.
Cheese plate. I asked for two soft cheeses and a blue. Not quite what I got. Oh well.
Dessert. No idea!
I know, kind of a weird post for me. I blame time and drunkenness.
