A Farm Burger / Morelli Ice Cream opened just down the road from us. Hungry and tired one night, we headed over there for dinner. The place was packed, but the bar was mostly empty. We settled in the last two seats closest to the kitchen/service area. I like to watch the action.
To start, I got a rootbeer float with Morelli's vanilla ice cream and Abita root beer, which they have "on tap". It was great. They are generous with the ice cream, so I was so excited that they do root beer refills.
Josh said their chicken pot pie croquettes were tasty. They reminded me of the gei pei that we buy at Taipan but a little more pot pie-y. Not bad. A lot of friedness though.
I ordered the banh mi burger which is topped with pickled carrots, daikon,
jalapeños, housemade pork paté, cilantro, and chili mayo. It was an interesting burger, one that I couldn't really decide that I liked until I got a hit of cilantro. I got the jalapenos on the side, but didn't put them on the burger.
I sliced the burger in half before eating it. You can see that part of the burger is a beautiful medium and the other slightly thinner half is a little done over. Nevertheless, it was juicy and good.
I'm not sure I would get this burger again, but I did abandon part of my bun and ate just the pate and vegetables. That was pretty tasty and made me want a traditional banh mi.
I'm excited to go back, get a rootbeer float and a simple burger. Yum.
