Valentine's Day is for amateurs. Everyone knows that.
We haven't gone out for Valentine's Day ... almost ever. Except there are some places that do really good-sounded Valentine's Day menus. And there were several this year. But we wisely decided against it. And the worst thing about knowing that it sucks to go out on Valentine's Day is probably that you know going out isn't an option and if you haven't planned something at home already, you might just be screwed.
Happily, Josh went to the Buford Highway FM to pick up some tasties for dinner. He came home with this pile of stone crab claws, which is truly love, because I love them and he can't eat them. So I whipped up a relatively close approximation to the Joe's Stone Crab recipe (we don't keep A1 in the house...), took out my cleaver and smashed each claw a bit (some more than others), and sat on the couch eating through the entire pile. Yum.
Then I got up to prep the rest of dinner. Josh had boiled down these sweet potatoes which I just mashed and added s+p. I got the cast iron smoking hot, then added some Puglia butter and cooked up these luscious scallops. They were so good. Then I tossed the greens in the pan.
Definitely a good meal.
