Atlanta foods

The Eatzi's near my office closed a few months ago. Not that I ever actually went there, but I did think about it from time to time. They used to 'red dot' things after a certain time (7:30 maybe?) when all the red dotted items were 50%. We would pick up quiches for lunch.

Recently, Alon's opened in the formerly-Eatzi's spot. J and I went for lunch the other day and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. That's what I get probably for ordering a random sammich. I'm very particular usually about getting something that I know I like.

I did have a nice chat with the cheese folk at the cheese counter and found that they actually carry four different Sweet Grass Dairy cheeses. I got to sample the Thomasville Tomme, which I had never had before. They had Green Hill, of course, for $12 which isn't bad until you manage to find the exact same thing at Costco for $6 and then you cannot pay the $12 ever again. They also had Lumiere which the head cheese guy said he felt was their best cheese. As you can see, this is one of those small perfectly-portioned cheeses, so I didn't get to try it.

A week or so ago when I was wandering around spending too much money at Whole Foods, I noticed that they had Sweet Grass Dairy fresh chevre. (I think it was $16/lb so my half pound for $8 is really a good price considering that it's $6 for 1/2 lb on their website!) It is so super rich and creamy. It puts the other chevres that we've had to shame.

If you were paying attention to that count of cheeses at Alon's by the way, you'll notice that I only listed three cheeses. I don't know what the fourth is.
