Holiday season

Well, here is a post of random things.

On the stove, I have the vegetables for the pot pies that I've cooked so all I have to do is make the bechamel and then assemble. And then there is a gigantic pot of stock simmering which I will use to make soup later.

And I'm on my third cocktail while listening to Pandora -- my instrumental Christmas station that is currently belting out some high octane version of Carol of the Bells.

The day after the day after. Since I've planned uses all for all the leftover turkey except the breast which will become sammiches, there are some kind of lonely sides in the fridge.

But they were sure tasty the day after. I baked my dressing for a while so it would acquire the crust I wanted. That made it better.

Some friends came over for dinner and judged me as having "holiday tchotchkies". That didn't thrill me. But I do enjoy my holiday season stuff. I bought these at Festivity which is next door to H&F Bottle Shop. Josh goes into H&F to buy stuff and I ... well, I go other places. :)

Depending on how this tree fares, we may join the ranks of people who buy their trees over Thanksgiving weekend. We bought this tree and two cool wreaths from Hastings.

It's filling out its corner of the living room and hopefully, Josh will put lights on it this coming weekend.

The painters were here painting the house over the holiday which was a bit disruptive. Josh moved my vegetables from the lawn onto the edge of the driveway. Of everything, it seems the cauliflower is kind of sprouting! Hooray!

I haven't replaced the netting yet which I bet I will regret but until then...

We were in the kitchen. Josh was making me a drink and I was washing up. And I saw this large bird fly down and land on my vegetable pot and I was like, woah, what the hell is that?

Dan and Rachel from down the street had mentioned that there were a few hawks that live in the neighborhood. I guess that explains the random guts in the driveway one day. Get those yard critters, my pretty!
