Just a normal type of weekend. A trip to the Peachtree Road Farmers Market and then lunch.
We're both in town this week so we bought our usual amount. Baby zucchini, spinach, lettuces, sting beans, carrots, kale, potatoes from McMullan. From Indian Ridge, hen o' the woods mushrooms, sunchokes, and a watermelon radish. From Burge, some eggplant.
We also got an 11.2 lb turkey from Heritage Farms for Thanksgiving. That better be one awesome bird solely based on cost.
We also got the marubini pasta from Storico Fresco which I have been super excited for.
Errands brought us to Dunwoody so we ran over to the E 48th Street Market (site) for lunch. I got the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella with olive oil. Delicious. And generously portioned. Oh yeah, and a nice Orangina.
And then Sunday lunch, we headed over to Bantam and Biddy (site) which just opened recently. It's a chicken-and-two in Ansley Mall. You order up front and they bring you your food at the table.
We both got the 1/4 chicken. Josh got a beast and leg and I got a breast and thigh. The breast was juicy and tender. The wing was crispy. Sadly, the thigh and leg for each of us was dry and overcoooked. Sad.
I did not specify a sauce, so I got the wasakaka, which is herby and bright with lemon. Josh got the piri piri at my recommendation. It wasn't that spicy or exciting really.
For Josh's sides, he got Carolina red peas and rice and spicy turnip greens, both of which he didn't seem all that excited it about. I got the loaded mashed potatoes which were pretty tasty and the scoop of chopped liver. The chopped liver was good, not too strong and but a bit heavy. I'm kind of surprised there was a surcharge for it, but who knows.
Overall, it was not a bad experience, though I'm not sure we would drive all the way into midtown for it.
