Randomly, a couple people have asked me recently what my favorite restaurant is. I always pause and then say 246 or Bocado. And they are. Really. Probably the second or third thing out of my mouth is Taka. And why is it so far down the list? Only because I don't want to say a Japanese restaurant is my favorite, which is stupid.
If I measure my favorite in terms of happiness as I leave, it's got to be Taka. Especially in the fall.
We headed over for dinner on Friday right after work, so we got there at six, before the rush.
It's autumn! I started off with this delicious ankimo which was delicious as always. Josh, always the healthy one got a soba salad.
Then we also got this negitoro don to split. The pickled wasabi on top was so spicy this time! I had to move most of it to Josh's side.
From there, we went to a sashimi omakase which I did not get a picture of.
The days of cold ramen are over which is so sad because I so love it now. Oh, cold ramen, I await your return in May.
This is actually not the ramen we had Friday night. It is a ramen I had at lunch a couple weeks back with Lauren because I had to give her a cookbook.
However, the one we had Friday was nearly the same. We split it though I think I might have given myself more of the noodles. It's hard to judge. Well, thems the perks of doing the splitting.
And for dessert, a generous uni with quail egg. Long live autumn when uni comes back into season.
So happy. So good. We're poor, so we can't do it a lot. But damn, it is so good.
