I had told Josh all about my meals at Mac McGee's and we wanted to go so when we were looking for a spot for Sunday brunch, Mac McGee's fit nicely in our plan.
We started off with the mussels and beer. Guinness for me, Harp for Josh. Which was funny; I never knew of him to order Harp before. The mussels did not disappoint. We got extra bread to sop up the juices.
For my main, I got the fish n chips with a side of a blue cheese sauce they put on chicken. And another Guinness. Josh got the shepherd's pie. Yum. I even ate all my coleslaw.
We stopped off at the market on the way home to pick up some stuff for dinner. If we're going to be there, I like to buy fish. So I picked up a couple of these yellowfin snappers to use in a ceviche along with four sea scallops.
It was my first attempt at fileting. And honesty, they weren't so bad. Except then I found small bones still in them and they fell apart more when I used the pliers to pull them out.
I chopped up the fish and scallops and marinated them in lime juice for 15 minutes. Then I drained it, added a bit more lime juice, McMullan cherry tomatoes, avocado, and chopped red onion. Mix and serve.
Overall, not bad. But not as good as what I made at Rosemary either.
