Recipes

On my drive home today, I started thinking about what to have for dinner. This caused me to think about the skirt steak in the freezer. I preferred to make chimichurri, but we didn't go to the market this weekend so we would have to settle with a horseradish cream. This made me think about how I didn't thing we had any sour cream. I admit that my stream of consciousness is rather odd sometimes.

Not having any sour cream made me think about if there is a way to make it at home. I often come across recipes in magazines telling me how to make my own ricotta or my own crème fraîche, whether completely from scratch or altering an existing item with something else.

And so I decided that what I would really like to find is a book that includes recipes for all these things you can make at home from scratch. It seems like something that would be an incredibly huge book or such an undertaking that was beyond possibility, but then again, that's what many said about what ultimately became Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

That would be a damn good book.
