Cooking at home
It was labor day weekend and I decided to do a bunch of cooking to fuel a lot of casual eating. To start, my ribs. My soy sauce stock is dwindling so I used a different one this time. You couldn't tell. Hooray! Looks like it's the hoisin and the honey that matters the most in this recipe.
Fried chicken. Because nothing says a day off like fried chicken.
Our friends who normally throw a hatch chile party every year moved to Denver earlier this year. But Josh lucked into finding fresh hatch chiles at Whole Foods for a good price and picked up a couple pounds.
We roasted and peeled them and put a bunch away for freezing. We also picked out a few to make into rellanos.
And here they are! Not bad for a first time. Josh has helped Tim make these enough that he was able to do the battering and what I didn't know from the recipe, I was able to salvage from being able to deep fry.
At the time I made these, I remember thinking of some tips to make this better, but now I can't remember.
The rellano batter called for egg whites so we had a few egg yolks left over. I used them to make pasta. Nice thin linguine.
We defrosted the 36 hr bolognese from Storico Fresco. It was divine.
