This service is awesome.
First of all, I created a login for their website (easy) and entered my groupon info (easy) and then went in and set some preferences of things that I never wanted to receive. I chose to receive the small box (per my groupon) and I chose the "local only" box. Then I waited. Their cutoff for getting deliveries is the Saturday before.
On Sunday (or something), I got my email saying my box was confirmed for that week and I could log into their site to update my preferences. I didn't log in before the cut-off but I imagine that I could have said, no, don't give me x, I want y instead! And so my box arrived today. It did sit out on the stoop in the rain. The box was beautifully packed. As you can see from the (a little blurry) pictures, we made out with:
1 Romano BEANS/lbs
2 Red Ruby GRAPEFRUIT/ea
1 Collard (bunch) GREENS/ea
1 Purple KALE/ea
1 Romaine LETTUCE/ea
1 Cantaloupe MELON/ea
1 Vidalia ONIONS/ea
2 Covington Sweet POTATOES/ea
3 Yellow SQUASH/ea
1 Grape (1 pint) TOMATOES/ea
1 Purple Top TURNIPS/lbs
I am really super pleased with this service. They consider local to be within 400 miles and everything we received today is organic. I'm not saying things have to be certified organic for us to buy it; we are all about naturally raised without antibiotics or pesticides.
They also have a tiny box for $28 (the small box is $38), and if you have a larger family, they have bigger boxes. They have veggie only, fruit only, mixed, and local only boxes. Obviously, we went local. You can set it up to deliver weekly and every other week. You can add other things to your delivery if you are more on top of stuff than I am.
This service rocks, rocks, rocks. Everything looks awesome. I am so happy.

Sounds awesome, but what if you're not a master cook who can cook anything? I guess that's where the preferences come in to play. We'll try it. I love organicish stuff but am lazy and don't want to drive "all the way" to whole foods.
One of the things I am really loving about all these veggies is that I'm learning what to do with them. I don't really know what to do with them either, so I ask a lot. And it's all about the simple preparation too. It's awesome.
