Farmers Market

Another Saturday, another trip to the market. Josh had mentioned that we should go to the market earlier so we can get the good stuff and I just happened to wake up really super early today (in part probably because my neighbor is having a garage sale and some people are freaky early to those). So I left the house around 9 and got to the market early in time to do some shopping before the awesome demo that Chef Steven Satterfield of Miller Union did.

Here are my meat loots. I emailed Pine Street Market in advance to place an order. Eight hot dogs (these are so delicious), some Sweet Grass Dairy Asher Blue cheese, and a pound of country sausage. It'll be a good weekend. The Sweet Savannah Shrimp folks were also there. We still have some shrimp, but I got another 2 lb bag of the jumbo head-on shrimp since they don't come every week and I hope to make a good dent in what we have this week/end.

Since we have a fridge full of veggies from the Nature Garden Delivered thing, I didn't want to buy too much. However, squash are in season so I got some globe and patty pan squashes. I also got four heirloom Carolina cucumbers. I may pickle these or let Josh eat them raw. I also got some wild plums. They apparently have a large pit in the middle but are plum-tasting.

Had a great time seeing people we know and meeting some farmers. It was a great morning.
