L'Thai

Somewhere between A's house and ours lies a Thai place in the middle of an unimpressive looking strip mall. But what a surprise it was inside! L'Thai has probably become my favorite Thai place in Atlanta.

Before I get into the food, I feel like I need to mention that L'Thai has, according to their website, been selected by the Ministry Of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government as one of the best Thai restaurants in the world. All of their food, including garnishes, is organic. Apparently, it is the only organic Thai restaurant outside of Thailand.

So, J and I started off with the tom yum, my favorite Thai soup. I got mine with tofu; he got tiger shrimp. It was delicious. It wasn't milky white as you would normally see it, but it was incredibly flavorful.

J got the green papaya salad which was good, but I'm not a huge fan of it, and it was pretty spicy. I think he liked it.

For my main, I got the three flavors flounder which was a whole flounder that was deep fried, and then topped with a sweet and sour sauce. It was pretty big, but I think I did a pretty decent job overall. I enjoyed it a lot.

For dessert, we got the F.B.I. which is bananas rolled in spring roll wrappers and deep fried, served with ice cream. My banana was not ripe so I didn't care for this dish.

Since this dinner, J and I have returned. We got the soft shell crabs in penang which is absolutely delicious. We also got the original pad thai which was good, but I have to admit that I like that dish better at Surin. For a dessert, we got the fried bananas which are covered in honey. The honey does a good job melding with the fried banana (and it helped that my banana was ripe!). This was a pretty good ending.

It's nice to find another great restaurant so nearby. Next on the list to try in this area: Phnom Penh.
