As if all that wonderful time on the Cape wasn't enough, we got home (very delayed) and headed straight up to Lake Burton to hang out with friends. Time on the lake is always so relaxing.
We've been to a flea market up there that I had seen with a selection of nicely seasoned cast iron skillets. I thought they were a bit pricey. J found a nice Griswold at another flea market which was rusted but otherwise good quality for $17. But the research seemed to provide that it was rather taxing to clean and reseason.
So we deliberately went to the flea market at the lake, and I wheeled and dealed in cash for a result that I liked. So here I got one Wagner #10 skillet (10 1/4") which is the in the lower left. And then a #6 Griswold and the Giswold dutch oven with matching cover. Not really sure if it was a good deal or not, but I got it all for $200.
Still need to clean up that other skillet.
Friends picked up barbecue at Mooney's Texas BBQ and brought it up to the lake. It was pretty tasty, except that chicken there at about 9 o'clock on the plate. Loved the corn and the beans. Ate a lot of that.
We also headed to Osage Farms. My first grocery shopping in three months! We got a bag of delicious peaches, some potatoes, two ears of Silver Queen corn, shelled lady peas and butter beans, two Cherokee Purples and one Brandywine, and a couple beefsteak tomatoes.
For dinner, we headed to a new pizza place where Tyler Williams is slinging fresh pies! The line was out the door, and it was packed! They were a little disorganized but everything was tasty. The pies are a little blond, but tasty. A great new option on the lake.
