Two things that I remembered I wanted to post about.
One is about Georgia peaches. Actually, I don't usually buy Georgia peaches. I normally buy New Jersey peaches. Don't ask me why. I buy local when I can find a farmstand with them. But there is something about the peaches this year that they are impossible to peel. And the fruit sticks to the pit. Obviously not freestone, but how do you tell? And this is what I don't get either. When I lived in Connecticut, it was like a law. You buy peaches. On the third day, they were ripe. Here in Georgia, I just cannot get it right. I buy peaches. I check them on day one. Not ripe. On the second day, they are overripe and spoiled. No matter what I do, I cannot get peaches right. I'm very frustrated. I live in the damn peach state, after all.
Two is about PF Chang's. It's another thing I learned from Fortune Cookie Chronicles. The PF stands for Paul Fleming, the owner of the restaurant as well as the owner of restaurants like Fleming's and Outback. The Chang is from Phillip Chiang -- apparently, they felt that Chiang is less Chinese than Chang -- who is Cecilia Chiang's son. I think I'm actually more upset to find that the restaurant actually has a connection to a good food-related Chinese name and sucks so much. Apparently, most Chinese people don't go there because of the terra cotta soldiers. They are from Chinese tombs of the emperor, after all, and represent, you know, death. I don't go because the food sucks.
