Honey Pig

A couple weeks ago while I was catching up on blog reading, I read the Blissful Glutton's review of Honey Pig, a Korean barbeque place out in Duluth. Now generally, I don't really rely on just one review to send me hopping all around the city to go there, but the Blissful Glutton also directed us to Pho Dai Loi, my favorite pho spot in the city, so she has special "rights" in my book.

So we headed up to Honey Pig on a whim and waited amongst the 97% Korean clientele for our table. The staff was especially friendly and nice. They asked us how we found out about their restaurant and mentioned that the BG's review had brought in two other tables that night already. They asked for my card citing announcements for upcoming events, but upon reflection, I think they thought we were in the industry. Meanwhile, we are just hungry foodies.

Service was amazing. The staff was incredibly attentive and the girl at the counter up front (one of the owners?) came by to check on us regularly. We got instructions on some things (how to eat the mushrooms, for instance). When we ran the bell for service (I finally decided to give it a try), someone actually came running to our table, and then a second guy stopped by a few minutes later to see if we still needed help.

We ordered the honey pig (of course) and the prime short ribs. The honey pig was good, but I guess I couldn't see why this wasn't just pork belly. The short ribs were amazing. Next time, we may try the miso-marinated ... something.

I have pictures too. That's why I'm behind on posting this. I'll update when I find the time to dl them.
