Lauren set up one of her farm visits for my birthday! I like goats. :)
So we headed out to Decimal Place Farm, where Mary Rigdon makes her delicious goat cheeses, to visit the farm and take a look around. All her goats are saanens.
The goats were very sweet and love to be petted. After we petted them, they trotted along with us the whole time we were there.
I love these closeup shots of any animal so of course, I couldn't resist putting this in here.
This is Claire. We first met Claire when she was only a few days old when Mary brought her to the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Mary calls her Claire-bear. I think she is the youngest of all the goats.
Among the goats we saw was this flamboyant guy. I don't know what his real name is, but I call him Elvis. He was paired off with a doe so they could make little goat kids.
This is Dandelion, or Dandy. He's Claire's half brother. He was kept separate from the others (probably because he's a boy) so we went to see him. He didn't really want to hang out with us, but after we walked away, he started braying.
This picture amuses me. It's Claire, scratching an itch. I also saw some goats turn their heads around completely and scratch an itch on their back directly behind their head. How flexible!
Mary also has this rooster onsite. His name is Beauregard T. Justice because he was brought by some police offers. He and Dandy were talking to each other after we visited.
