Pictures from Seattle

As I mentioned, the University District's Saturday morning market is pretty impressive. The square footage of the market is close to what we are used to with the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, but with vendors as closely packed together as possible, but without being crowded.

I was particularly pleased with this salmon vendor. The coolers contain vacuum-sealed fresh salmon fillets: pink, coho, king, sockeye. Then there's a selection of salmon jerkies and canned salmons. Plus jars of ikura. How nice it would be to have access to this kind of bounty on a regular basis!

Looks like the end of July is the height of squash season. Even just the squash is impressive, but that pile of pretty blossoms! Awesome.

Oh, to have cherries at our farmers market. Perhaps we just happened to arrive during cherry season, but it certainly did it wooing. Josh bought a 1/2 pound of rainiers which we mostly devoured in the car. They were fat and sweet, the best we've ever had.

What a selection of plus! There were little wild plums, but so many of them! And then the full size ones, of course.

After hitting up the farmers market, we headed over to pike place market. How super crowded! I don't know that I could take going to this market all the time. Perhaps that's why B&L only come here occasionally. The fish did certainly look awesome.

This was the first Starbucks. I took to picture to send to my boss, but never did send it.

B&L took us around to check out all the neighborhoods. I think this park is at the edge of their Queen Anne neighborhood. Anyway, look at the view of this park! Very nice.

Across the street from that park was a privately-funded garden for public use. A family was there taking professional pictures with their baby. We wandered around looking at the flowers. These were our favorites.

What's this brisket doing in here? Well, I made brisket a couple weekends ago. My first. It turned out pretty well. Brisket seems a lot like pot roast. I don't know if it's supposed to, but I suppose that I did like the meaty taste of it better than the bottom round that I usually get. Pretty tasty.
