Last night, I went to a restaurant just outside Denver that serves escolar. This fish had come highly recommended to me though I can't specifically remember why.
It wasn't bad. I thought it was comparable to a combination of the meatiness of swordfish and the butteriness of sea bass. However, something about it just wasn't right. I tired of eating it before I finished it, even though it was topped with delectable jumbo crab meat. Maybe I was just too exhausted from my week to enjoy it.
I did have some very meaty and tasty Appalachicola oysters though even though we are in May. I think we should go to Appalachicola to have them from the source. And on the cheap!
